发明名称 TRAVELING WAVE AMPLIFICATION TYPE OPTICAL ISOLATOR
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve mass productivity, by providing traveling wave amplification function in which incident beams are amplified in their traveling direction and pulsing electromagnetic waves propagating along the incident beams and making them so long that one or more pulses can remain inside the amplifying part. CONSTITUTION:Since non-reflective films 19 are formed on front and back sides of an element, the element has a threshold value high enough not to generate oscillation and has only an amplification function for incident beams. When the beams incident to one terminal plane propagate through optical guide layers 12 and 14 with an active layer 13 in between, they receive energy by inductive emission and are amplified in their traveling states if there are electromagnetic waves propagating at the same time. Then beams traveling backwards are provided with loss so that it has no amplification effect. If the electromagnetic waves are pulsed and made so long that one or more pulses can remain inside the amplifying part, the beams traveling backwards are provided with much more loss. Hence this inexpensive element can be used and mass productivity can be improved.
