PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which can give a film excellent in scratch resistance, chemical resistance, dyeability, transparency, heat resistance, weathering resistance and water resistance, by mixing a colloidal silica with a specified organosilane hydrolyzate. CONSTITUTION:A colloidal silica (A) of an average particle diameter of 1-100mmu is obtained by dispersing high-MW inorganic silicic acid microparticles (a) in water or an alcoholic dispersing medium (b). The title composition is obtained by mixing 5-90wt.% component A with 95-10wt.% hydrolyzate of at least one organosilane compound (B) of the formula [wherein R is a 1-6C hydrocarbon group, X is a 2-40C organic group, Y is a hydrolyzable group such as a halogen, (alkoxy)alkoxyl, acyl(oxy) or alkenoxyl and a is 0-2]. Said composition optionally mixed with a solvent is applied to the surface of a substrate such as a transparent plastic material or glass and subjected to a condensation reaction is hot air at 80-200 deg.C to obtain a coating film of thickness of 0.05-30mu. |
