PURPOSE:To facilitate the measurement of a data transmission delay time by monitoring data sent actually from a data communication line, analyzing it according to each protocol, detecting the relation between the data and the response thereby obtaining the response time of the response with respect to the data. CONSTITUTION:Data is transferred from a data communication equipment 1 functioning as a computer to a data communication equipment 1' functioning as a terminal. A data monitor 3 takes in a message from a data communication line 4 to a protocol conversion section 6 via a line buffer 5, detects the end of a start flag as and an end flag of the message to measure the time when the head and tail end of the message is taken in. Succeedingly, a protocol conversion section 7 analyzes the protocol to judge whether the message is a command or the response of the same message. The result is transferred to a delay measuring section 9, where the delay time till the response of the same message is returned is measured from the command.
