PURPOSE:To prevent disconnection by mounting a CT to an overhead earth-wire and burning due to ground discharge by detecting the grounding accident of a transmission line by potential difference appearing between the upper section and lower section of a steel tower. CONSTITUTION:Since a steel tower 1 is a kind of resistor, the steel tower 1 can be replaced with a resistor R. When there is no abnormality in a transmission line A, currents hardly flow through the steel tower 1, but currents (i) flow through the steel tower 1 when a grounding accident occurs in the transmission line A, and the potential difference of iR appears between the upper section and lower section of the steel tower 1 serving resistor. The potential difference is amplified by an amplifier 4, detected by a comparator 5 and displayed by an indicator 6. The indicator 6 is installed to a steel tower 1 section and potential difference is monitored, thus instantaneously detecting the generation of the grounding accident between any steel towers.
