PURPOSE:To perform the high energy radiation working and to perform the welding or cutting by carrying out the surface treatment on metal before working and forming a film with the lower thermal conductivity and reflectance than said metal on the metal surface. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular parallelepiped of oxygen free copper is used as metal material with the high thermal conductivity and reflectance to perform the nickel plating thereon by the usual method as the surface treatment. It is superposed on the film 1 of a test piece 2 so that the edge of a copper- beryllium alloy plate 3 as material to be welded is located in a corner part of the test piece 2 on which the film 1 is formed and a YAG laser beam is projected on the film 1 in an argon atmosphere toward the corner part of the test piece 2 and the end face of the alloy plate 3 to be welded. By this method, a welded zone with the satisfactory depth of penetration is obtained. |
