PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer outstanding in dyeability while retaining processability, resistance to low-temperature brittleness, flexibility, etc., by copolymerization, under specified conditions, between ethylene, dialkylaminoalkyl acrylamide-based comonomer, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective novel copolymer with number-average molecular weight 5,000-50,000 can be obtained by copolymerization, in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator under a pressure 500-3,000kg/cm<2> at 100-300 deg.C of a mixture comprising (A) 40-99wt.% of ethylene, (B) 60-1wt.% of at least one kind of dialkylaminoalkyl acrylamide-based comonomer of formula (R1 is H or CH3; R2 and R3 are each 1-4C alkyl, n is 2-5) (e.g., dimethylaminopropyl acrylamide) and (C) 0-20wt.% of at least one kind of other ethylenic unsaturated comonomer (e.g., methyl acrylate). This copolymer is especially useful as a raw material for additives for imparting poly-alpha-olefins with dyeability and for electrically conductive coatings outstanding in film- formability and electrical conductivity.
