PURPOSE:To make it possible to output a high-frequency laser radiation with high efficiency by a method wherein the title generator comprises a waveguide- type high-frequency conversion element, which generates a high frequency from a first light wave, and outputs a high-frequency laser radiation outside of an annular optical path. CONSTITUTION:When a pumping light R from a laser diode 30 is incided in a laser rod 20 through a mirror 10, doped active ions are excited in the rod 20 in a process that the light R propagates in the longitudinal direction of the rod 20 to generate a fluorescence. The fluorescence is amplified by induced radiation and oscillates in the rod 20 in the processes to propagate repeatedly a rectangular and annular optical path that links 4 mirrors 10, 12, 14 and 16 to generate a laser radiation L of a uniform phase. Part of the light L is converted into a second high frequency SH in a process that the laser radiation L is passed through a waveguide 46. In a waveguide-type high-frequency conversion element 28, a high conversion efficiency is obtained compared to a bulk-type one by the action of the comparatively high constants of the nonlinear optical constants of each crystal because light is confined in the waveguide 46. |
