PURPOSE:To obtain a zinc-halogen battery high in its voltage efficiency by producing a plurality of metal oxides on a carbon plate so as to compose a halogen electrode. CONSTITUTION:After powder of palladium chloride and ruthenium chloride or the like is dissolved in water of ammonia, this aqueous solution is made weak-alkaline and impregnated into a porous graphite. When this graphite is dried at 150 deg.C for 30min., and next heated at 400 deg.C for 24 hours, a palladium oxide and a ruthenium oxide or the like are produced. Since metal oxides are obtained in a heating process at such a comparatively low temperature, heat deterioration in the graphite can be prevented. Production of plural metal oxides increase their activation as catalysts. When a halogen electrode obtained in this way is used, a lead-halogen battery good in its voltage efficiency and excellent in its electrode characteristics can be obtained. |
