PURPOSE:To automatically follow the change of a transmission line characteristic without using an equalizer by extracting the response waveform of a special pattern and forecasting an input waveform based on the superposition of the response waveform. CONSTITUTION:A discriminator 10 discriminates a digital value from an input value. On the other hand, at a delaying memory 11, a time input side equivalent to the time delay of the discriminator 10 is delayed and the impulse response waveform is removed by a waveform extracting device 12. A response waveform correcting device 13 corrects the transmission line impulse response value string based on the output of the waveform extracting equipment 12. These impulse response value strings are given to the discriminator 10. Thus, since as the superposition of the response waveform, the input waveform of the discriminator 10 is forecast, the most definite discriminating value is discriminated, the response waveform of the special pattern is always measured and updated, the detector can follow the change of the transmission line characteristic.
