PURPOSE:To uniformize rolling reduction by detecting the difference between upstream side and downstream side of a cast slab, operating a rolling reduction inclination for the cast slab and next controlling rolling reduction cylinder for driving based on the difference between the above operated value and the aimed rolling reduction inclination. CONSTITUTION:Position detectors 29, 30 are arranged between outer bar units 10, 10, which are arranged at bar blocks 8, 9, at the prescribed interval. The detector 29 is connected with a memory storage 31 and computing elements 32, 33 and a load detector 34 is connected with the memory storage 31 through a ground detector 35. The detector 30 is connected with the computing element 33, and also an elastic deformation corrector 42 and the aimed rolling reduction inclination setter 43 are connected with the computing element 44. By this method, a rolling reduction cylinder 26b is controlled so that the rolling reduction inclination at the time of executing the rolling reduction to the cast slab becomes the rolling reduction of the aimed inclination setter 43. Therefore, the uniform rolling reduction is executed over the whole length of the cast slab.
