PURPOSE:To obtain the titled elastomer capable of producing cured products of outstanding processability, curing characteristics, physical properties, etc., by (co)polymerization of fluorine-contg. olefin(s) in the presence of a specific iodine and bromine-contg. compound and 1,1-difluoro-2-bromoethylene. CONSTITUTION:The objective elastomer can be obtained by (co)polymerization of 2-8C fluorine-contg. olefin(s) at -30-150 deg.C in general, in the presence of (A) an iodine and bromine-contg. compound of formula RBrnIm (R is fluorohydrocarbon, chlorofluorohydrocarbon, chlorohydrocarbon or hydrocarbon; n and m are each 1 or 2) (e.g., 1-bromo-2-iodoperfluoroethane) and (B) 1,1- difluoro-2-bromoethylene. Preferably, the amounts of the components A and B to be used are 0.001-5wt.% on an iodine plus bromine basis in the final elastomer and 3mol.% based on the fluorine-contg. olefin(s), respectively.
