NOVEL COMPOUND AND REMEDY FOR HYPERLIPEMIA USING SAID COMPOUND

NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula [R1 is H or methyl; R2 is mono- or polyethylene glycol residue expressed by (CH2CH2O)nH (n is 1-6)]. EXAMPLE:ML-236B diethylene glycol ester. USE:A remedy for hyperlipemia having high stability and excellent blood cholesterol reducing action. PREPARATION:ML-236B or monacolin K is reacted with mono- or polyethylene glycol in the presence of an inorganic acid, such as HCl or H2SO4, as a catalyst to afford the aimed compound expressed by the formula. The reaction is carried out by using a solvent, e.g. benzene or chloroform. The compound expressed by the formula is administered in a dose within the range of about 0.2-500mg per day for an adult by intravenous injection, intraoral administration, etc.
