PURPOSE:To support user input at the various steps of an image processing program, by providing a means which transmits the know-how information of an expert in an image processing field with respect to the operating specification and the usage of the image processing program to a user. CONSTITUTION:A state monitoring part 11 receives an input request message from the image processing program under execution in a computer 21, and updates the content of a memory 17 by referring to the operating specification of a program 110 read out on a memory 15 from an external memory device 28 and the present state of the program until then stored in the memory 17. Also, in a memory 16, a rule expressing the know-how of the usage of the program read out in advance from the external memory device 28 is held, and a processing policy until then is held in a memory 18. A user supporting part 12 refers to the contents of the memories 17, 16, and 18, and outputs supporting information capable of deciding appropriate input to the user 111.
