PURPOSE:To improve the convenience of a facsimile terminal equipment by making the facsimile terminal equipment of a transmitting side interrupt and restart independently the transmission of a picture signal. CONSTITUTION:After a transmission interrupting means 100 interrupts the transmission of the picture signal to the facsimile terminal equipment of a reception side, it transmits an interruption signal, and the facsimile terminal equipment of the reception side confirms that a reception has been interrupted. In the case that a transmission restarting means 200 transmits a restart signal, and a restart confirmation signal is returned, it restarts the interrupted transmission of the picture signal. In the case that a reception interrupting means 300 receives the interruption signal, it interrupts the reception of the picture signal, and returns an interruption confirmation signal. In the case that a reception restarting means 400 receives a restart signal, after it makes the reception of the picture signal possible, it returns a restart confirmation signal to the facsimile terminal equipment of the transmitting side.
