PURPOSE:To reduce the number of parts used as well as man-hours by coating a coloring agent directly to an anode base owing to a plate glass, forming a colored layer through baking, arranging the colored layer glass face at the outer surface of a bulb to form a display, and thereby eliminating mounting of any colored filter. CONSTITUTION:From outside a specified voltage is impressed on a filament 8, and the heated filament 8 serves as electron radiating source. Radiated electrons are accelerated by a grid 7 to attain a fluorescent substance layer 4, and fluorescent substance emitted will reach an anode base 1. A coloring agent containing an organic substance and metal ions or a metal colloid colored layer is baked fast to the surface of this base 1, to form a colored layer 2, and a display window 3 is formed. Thereby any desired indication color other than the light emission colors given originally by a fluorescent substance. In case Al is used to colored layer 2, an effect of light reflex prevention can be also obtained, that yields an excellent plane light emission type display tube regardless of reduced number of parts used and man-hours.
