NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R<1> is H, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkenyl; R<2> and R<3> are H, tri(1-7C) hydrocarbonsilyl or a group forming acetal bond with O of OH; R<4> is H, methyl or vinyl; R<5> is 3-6C alkyl which may contain O, (substituted)phenyl, (substituted)phenoxy, etc.; n is 0 or 1; Ar is (substituted)phenyl]. EXAMPLE:(1S,5S,6S,7R)-3-(4-Carbomethoxy-2,2-bisphenylsulfonylbut-yl-6- [(E,3S)-3- hydroxy-1-octenyl]-7-hydroxybicyclo[3.3.0]-2-octene. USE:A synthetic intermediate for 9(O)-methano-DELTA<6(9alpha)>-PGI1 (isocarbacyclin). PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II (R<11> is R<1> other than H) is treated with a base and then regiospecifically reacted with a compound expressed by formula III (R<21> and R<31> are R<2> and R<3> other than H; R<6> is 1-6C hydrocarbon group) to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
