PURPOSE:To obtain a photoconductive pigment dispersion which obviates generation of a solvent shock so that a uniform and smooth electric charge generating layer can be formed by subjecting this pigment dispersion to an ultrasonic treatment before a stage for diluting the dispersion to a use concn. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductive pigment dispersion obtd. by a mechanical dispersion method is subjected to the ultrasonic treatment before the stage for diluting this pigment dispersion to the use concn. by a solvent. Namely, the ultrasonic waves of the frequency to which the dispersion system exhibits the max. absorption are projected to the photoconductive pigment dispersion after dispersion and thereafter, this pigment dispersion is diluted with the solvent. The photoconductive pigment dispersion which obviates the solvent shock is then obtd. and the stable dispersion which decreases the precipitation of the pigment even when subjected to a centrifugal sepn. is obtd. The formation of the uniform and smooth charge generating layer is thereby enabled. |
