PURPOSE:To form a magnetic printer having stabilized print quality and quite a simple structure, by providing a ferromagnetic recording substrate, a conductive stylus contactable therewith and a means for applying voltage onto the recording substrate through the conductive stylus. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 1 is rotated with constant speed through a driving means and a magnetic layer 4 is magnetized in a predetermined direction through a magnetizing means 8 and fed continuously toward a conductive stylus 5, then a voltage applying means 6 is turned ON by a printing signal and current flows through the conductive stylus 5, the magnetic layer 4 and a conductive layer 3. Since electrical resistance in the conductive layer 3 is lower than that in the magnetic layer 4, Joule's heat is mainly produced in the magnetic layer 4 and the contacting face between the conductive stylus 5 and the magnetic layer 4, and thereby temperature rises at the writing portion of the magnetic layer 4, thus reducing residual magnetization and coercive force to approximately zero. The temperature rised portion is temporarily demagnetized and fed below a magnetization inverting means 9 under easily magnetizable state and a required recording portion 10 is formed on a recording substrate through magnetic inversion, thus carrying out development through attraction of toner. Consequently, print quality is not fluctuated. |
