PURPOSE:To prevent the trouble due to corrosion and to continuously monitor the exhaust gas of an incinerator, by supplying the air cooled corresponding to the temp. of an instrumented piping to the periphery of a radiation detector so as to make the peripheral temp. of the radiation detector constant. CONSTITUTION:The change in the temp. of the process fluid in a process piping 1 is measured on the upstream side of a radiation detector 7 by a process temp. detector 4. A heat insulating material is supplied to the periphery of the detector 7 in shield lead 8 from a heat insulating material cooling apparatus 5 through a cooling heat insulating material piping 2 to cool the piping 1 and subsequently again returned to the apparatus 5 from a cooling heat insulating material piping 3 and recirculated. The heat insulating material having constant temp. is formed in the apparatus 5 and the transfer amount of the heat insulating material transferred to the detector 7 is controlled by the signal of the detector 4. By this method, the detector 7 is always held to a constant temp. condition and radiation can be measured with good accuracy.
