PURPOSE:To execute effectively pretreatment for molten iron at good efficiency and low cost by blowing iron oxide obtd. by drying produced dust from a converter and lime through blowing lance together with carrier gas into the molten iron in a charging vessel. CONSTITUTION:In the molten iron in the charging vessel of mixer car, etc., the iron oxide and the lime are blown through the blowing lance together with the carrier gas. By this method, desiliconization or dephosphorization is treated to the molten iron. In the above pretreating method for the molten iron, the dust producing from the converter is used as the above iron oxide after collecting in wet type collector and drying. The converter dust is composed of the iron oxide having about <=1mum particle size and can be used as flux only by drying and has high reaction efficiency especially high dephosphorizing reaction efficiency. Further, the converter dust has only a little impurities of SiO2, etc., and the lime consumption can be saved at the time of using the dust as the flux.
