A process for the preparation of crystalline zeolites in which an aqueous alkaline solution, which contains an aluminium component and a silicon component and optionally alkali metal compounds, is reacted while stirring at an elevated temperature in the presence of template compounds, after which drying and optionally calcination are carried out, N-carboxyalkylamino acids and their salts being used as template compounds and being mixed thoroughly with the solution, being stirred for about 15-200 hours at about 90-220 DEG C and the solid released being dried and being calcined at temperatures of about 500-600 DEG C, then optionally being subjected to ion exchange and calcined again. The use of the crystalline zeolites in a one-stage process for the conversion of organic compounds which may contain oxygen into aromatics. Furthermore, their use in a two-stage process in which, in the first step, organic compounds which may contain oxygen are converted into aromatics and aliphatics and, in a second step, these aliphatics are converted into additional aromatics. |
