PURPOSE:To enable an intake port and an exhaust port to be made large and improve the efficiency of intake and exhaust by forming cylindrical housings on both sides of a cylinder head where an ignition plug is put therebetween and fixing rotatably cylindrical intake and exhaust valves within respective housings. CONSTITUTION:Cylindrical housings 12, 14 of cylindrical shapes are formed by putting an ignition plug therebetween in the horizontal direction and in parallel to each other on the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine 9, and rectangular large intake and exhaust ports 16, 18 are formed on the lower sides of peripheral portions of respective cylindrical housings 12, 14. And a rotary intake valve 20 and a rotary exhaust valve 34 are fixed rotatably within respective cylindrical housing 12, 14, and put in mutually linked motion by setting mutual engagement between timing gears 32, 34 provided on the valves 20, 34 respectively. Rectangular intake and exhaust ports 22, 36 are formed on the circumferential portions of the rotary intake valve 20 and the rotary exhaust valve 34, and the intake and exhaust valves 20, 34 are connected communicatingly to in intake pipe and an exhaust pipe respectively via rotary joints in their end portions.
