PURPOSE:To attain communication between a facsimile equipment connected with a first communication network and that connected with a second communication network by executing a prescribed processing. CONSTITUTION:If data is received from an ISDN2, reception data is transferred to a G4 reception part 13 through a communication control part 11, and picture data is G4-decoded in a G4-decoding part 14. Next, data is converted into standard density which has been normalized from G4 picture density to G3 picture density, and is stored in a memory 15. A G4 procedure signal is decoded in the G4 reception part 13. A normalization control part 18 receives a telephone number which is originated from the G4 reception part 13 to a coding system, auxiliary scanning density and a PSTN4, and instructs a G3 facsimile FAX part 17 to execute an originating action with respect to a PSTN2. The FAX part 17 executes the communication of a G3 procedure with a FAX equipment 5 connected with the PSTN4, decides the coding system and the auxiliary density of picture data to be transmitted and informs the normalization control part 18 of it. The normalization control part 18 instructs the memory 15, a coding part 16 and the FAX part 17 of it and starts transmitting picture data.
