PURPOSE:To miniaturize a device, by a method wherein an induction motor is started by a commercial power source through a delta connection and the induction motor is connected to the main body of an inverter through a star connection after starting is finished. CONSTITUTION:A motor 2 is started by throwing a switch 6 and another switch 3 at first to start it by a commercial power source 5 under a condition that the motor 2 is operated under a delta connection. Subsequently, the switch 7 is thrown to start the operation of the main body B of an inverter while synchronizing control is effected by a synchronizing circuit 9. After a time necessary for finishing the starting of the motor 2 has elapsed, the switch 3 is opened and the switch 4 is thrown. In this case, the motor 2 is connected to the main body 8 of the inverter and enters a stationary operation through a star connection. According to this method, the capacity of the inverter may be reduced.
