PURPOSE:To easily and effectively protect nozzle clogging at every time of starting thereof by supplying a block packing granular Ca kind additive in an iron case to near inlet of the nozzle at the starting time of development of the nozzle clogging in a tundish. CONSTITUTION:At the time of detecting the starting of development of the nozzle clogging phenomenon during casting in steel making process with a flow meter, iron-covered CaSi block 4 at end part of iron rod 3 coating refractory is inserted. Then, this is pushed down to near the inlet of the nozzle 7 in the tundish 5 and the molten metal is reacted near there and generated alumina high melting point non-metallic inclusion is changed into low melting point non-metallic inclusion. By this method, any large-scaled equipment is not necessary and the prevention can be easily executed at every time of starting of the nozzle clogging.
