PURPOSE:To easily the reading range of a picture detector despite its change by using 1st and 2nd detecting information storing means to store temporally the detecting information of plural photodetecting elements divided into two groups and reading out successively the detected information at the adjacent side of each group. CONSTITUTION:Plural photodetecting elements 2a-2h are divided into 1st and 2nd groups adjacent to each other and deliver the photodetecting information. While 1st and 2nd detecting information storing means 5-8 store temporarily the detecting information on the elements 2a-2h for each of 1st and 2nd groups. Then the detecting information are successively read out of the means 5-8 through the adjacent side between both groups. Therefore the scan is carried out from the adjacent side through the other side and the signals of both groups can always be connected to each other at the adjacent side. Thus it is possible to obtain the signals of a desired reading area without scanning the entire area of a sensor and to change easily a reading range.
