The biscyanimines have the formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> represents 1- or 2-propyl, C5- to C20-alkyl, C3- to C20-alkenyl or iodine and R<2>, R<3> and R<4>, independently of one another, represent hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, fluorine, phenyl, C5- to C20-alkyl, C3- to C20-alkenyl or C1- to C8-alkoxy, and give electrically conducting charge-transfer complexes with fulvalene compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which the ratio of (I) : (II) is 1:1, 2:1, 3:2, 1:2 or 2:3 mol. Furthermore, the biscyanimines (I) give electrically conducting radical ion salts of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<1>, R<2> and R<4> have the abovementioned meaning and M<m(+)> represents an m-valent alkali metal ion, alkaline earth metal ion, transition metal ion, ammonium or phosphonium ion, k represents 1 to 3, l represents 1 to 3, m represents 1 or 2, n represents 1 to 3 and z represents 0 to 2, it also being possible for k, l, n and z to represent fractional numbers and the sum of (l+z) being n.m. The charge-transfer complexes and the radical ion salts (III) preparable from (I) are suitable, for example, for electric semiconductors and photoconductors, as electrode and storage material in electric storage batteries for fuel cells and for the antistatic finishing of plastics. |
