PURPOSE:To provide optical parts which are light in weight and small in size and are highly resistant to impact and solvents by forming the optical parts of uniform polyaxially oriented methacrylic resin sheets. CONSTITUTION:Films formed by placing resin films 8 which are nonadhesive to methacrylic resin bases 7 on the respective boundary faces of 4 sheets of said resin bases and on both faces thereof are placed on the inside of compression dies 5 coated with a lubricating agent on the inside surfaces 6 and are heated to the temp. above the glass transition temp. of the bases 7 and below the m.p. thereof. The films are then compressed to cause the plug flow of the bases and to form 4 sheets of the polyaxially oriented sheets 9. These sheets are taken out upon cooling and are stripped from each other, by which the thin-gaged polyaxially oriented sheets 10 are obtd. The, sheets which are light in weight and are highly resistant to impact and solvents as the optical parts such as liquid crystal display devices and optical cards are thus obtd. |
