PURPOSE:To facilitate the furnishing of roll paper by rotating a paper feed roller after a space among the paper feed roller and pinch rollers has been opened by an opening/closing means, and conducting the feeding of the introduced roll paper by means of the frictional force of the outer perimeter portion of this roller. CONSTITUTION:When a space among a paper feed roller 211 and pinch rollers 213, 215 is opened by the operation of a lever or the like, the end of roll paper 231 is, along a paper guide 241, led into a space between the paper feed roller 211 and the pinch roller 215 with the help of a hand. And, as the skew of the roll paper 231 is corrected by the frictional force of the paper feed roller 211, paper feed is conducted to the extent of the roll paper 231 reaching a space between a platen 251 and a printing head 253. And the space among the paper feed roller 211 and pinch rollers 213, 215 is closed, and an ordinary paper feed action is brought on. Accordingly, the furnishing of the roll paper 231 becomes easy.
