There is disclosed a transmissione assembly for bicycles, in particular sports bicycles. This transmission is of the chain transfer type and essentially comprises two sprockets (18, 21) which are mounted on corresponding arm members (17, 20). These arm members (17, 20) are cantilever-wise mounted on a pin (14) which is housed in a sleeve member (13) and resiliently counterbiassed by one or more coil springs. The sleeve member (13) is coupled to the base of an articulated parallelogram system so as to be displaced by a pair of small cables (22) forming a positive driving system adapted to be actuated by a small lever (25).
