An acceleration sensor including a magnetic fluid (1), a permanent magnet (2) emplaced movably in the magnetic fluid (1), a nonmagnetic case (19), in which case the magnetic fluid (1) and the permanent magnet (2) are sealed and from which case air is substantially excluded, the shape of internal receptacle of the case dominating the shape of the magnetic fluid, whereby the path of the magnetic flux generated by the permanent magnet (2) is restricted and the permanent magnet (2) in the magnetic fluid (1) is given an automatic positioning function, a unit (41a, 41b) for detecting the position of the permanent magnet (2), and a processing circuit (300) for processing signals from the detection unit.
