PURPOSE:To realize low cost and to improve a yield and reliability, by arranging one-dimensional multiple element detectors in plural columns in a direction crossing orthogonally to the scanning direction of an optical scanning system, and selecting and setting one optimum detecting element out of the detecting elements in each row of the multiple element detectors in the said plural columns. CONSTITUTION:The multiple element detector 9 is constituted of the detecting element group of a column A and the detecting element group of a column B on the same substrate sandwiching an earth zone 12. The detecting elements 9a-1 and 9b-1 are arranged correspondingly on the first row of the multiple element detector 9, and the detecting elements 9a-n and 9b-n are arranged correspondingly on the final row. The earth zone 12 in a center part is used as a common terminal. And a switch to select one optimum detecting element out of the plural detecting elements corresponding to each row, and the switch to output the position information of a selected column interlocking with the switch are provided, and address setting corresponding to the selected column of an address generator 7 is performed in advance at every row based on the position information via a memory write sequence setting part 11.
