The fixed female part (3) is fixed into an aperture in the ceiling and secured by two locking nuts which thread onto the external thread. The male part (5) protrudes from the upper part of the lighting assembly, e.g. a spot-light. The central connection of the socket is a hollow pin (10). The outer connection of the socket is a cylindrical leaf spring (8) on the inside wall (7). The plug (5) has a central pin (11) with external protruding sprung rods (13) and a necked (9) outer cylindrical collar (12). The two parts are connected and secured by a short sleeve (16). The inner thread (19) in the upper part of the sleeve screws onto the outer thread on the socket. The short external thread (14) on the plug (5) screws into another short thread (15) in the sleeve (16).
