PURPOSE:To determine boron and nitrogen with high accuracy by adding a carbon compd. which is a carrier to carbon-11, converting this carbon-11 together with the carbon in the carbon compd. to carbonic acid ions and subjecting the same as a carbonate to a deficient equiv. sepn., then measuring the reactivity thereof. CONSTITUTION:Deuterium or hydrogen is first projected at and for currents Ix, Is and projection periods tx, ts, respectively, to the GaAs sample and boron oxide or silicon nitride which is a reference standard sample in order to deter mine the boron and nitrogen contained in GaAs as an example. The carbon-11 which is a radionuclide is formed from the boron-10 or nitrogen-14 in the sample and the standard sample. The sample is then dissolved together with the carbon ic acid K with a soln. mixture composed of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide and concd. sulfuric acid is added thereto the separate the carbon-11 as carbon dioxide. A barium chloride soln. is added to the liquid to prepare the measuring sample. The amt. Mx of the boron or nitrogen expressed by the formula I is obtd. by the measurement shown by an operation 5.
