PURPOSE:To achieve accurate location of an AE source position of a piping having a plurality of branches, by arranging a plurality of sensors at all of branch parts, tips and desired intermediate parts of the piping having branches in a measuring range to determine AE arrival time differences between all sensors adjacent to the first arrival sensor. CONSTITUTION:When AE generated in a piping 1 reaches first-6th sensors 11-16 in the sequence corresponding to distance, a measuring device 2 processes detection signals from the sensors 11-16 to store the number of the sensors into arrival order channel numbers n1-n6 of an arrival order register 24 in the arrival order of AE while AE arrival time differences DELTAt2-DELTAt6 between the first arrival channel n1 and the other six channels are stored into an arrival time difference register 25. Here, when the first arrival channel n1 is a tip, a second arrival channel n2 is indicated to a location position computing means 28 as channel to be computed and a line upper location of position is performed depending on the AE arrival time difference DELTAt2 to locate the position of an AE source. |
