PURPOSE:To improve the cooking function and usage of a cooker by a method wherein a gustatory sensor detecting gustatory is attached to a high frequency heater and a high frequency heating source is controlled by the change in the output of the heater and additional heating is carried out in a rather lower high frequency output and on the basis of the change in a detecting signal after a fixed time has elapsed the high frequency heating source is stopped. CONSTITUTION:A foodstuff to be heated is put into a cooker placed in a heating chamber and is heated after water is added to it. At that time, a gustatory sensor is also put and then condiments are put into the cooker. The detected output signal H3 at that time becomes an output signal H1 after heating progresses and the time reaches the time t1 from the time t0 and the gustatory density becomes almost constant and indicates the condition that the taste penetrates thoroughly into the foodstuff. In case of a foodstuff to be cooked which is finished into more delicious taste by carrying out boiling for a long time in that condition, additional heating is continued from the time t1 to the time t2 during the time DELTAt2 and when the output signal of the gustatory sensor reaches H2 caused by the gradation in the density following the evaporation of the water in the foodstuff, heating in stopped and rapid heating is avoided and it should be considered that the foodstuff may not be brought into bumping or scorched.
