PURPOSE:To facilitate the replacement work of bottom end plates of a storage tank and the inspection of auxiliary fixtures by forming a rectangular opening in a side plate in the vicinity of the bottom end plate, by securing a jack receiving bed to the upper edge of the opening so as to allow a jack to abut against the jack receiving bed in order to raise the storage tank, and by restoring the opening after the replacement work of the bottom end plate. CONSTITUTION:Rectangular openings are formed in a side plate 3 in the vicinity of a bottom end plate 4 to be replaced. A jack receiving bed 6 is made to contact with and is secured to the upper edge of each of the rectangular openings 5, and is made to abut directly against jack 7 so as to raise the bed 5. Further, the side plate 3, the bottom end plate 4 to be replaced, the adjacent bottom end plate 2 and a bottom plate 1 are cut out by a gas-flame cutting process so as to raise the side plate 3 by means of the jacks 7, and after insertion of a new bottom end plate 40, the side plate is lowered to remove the jack. Then, the bottom end plate 40 is welded while the openings 5 are restored by use of new materials. Accordingly, because of no attachment of an auxiliary fixture, it is possible to prevent the side plate 3 from being damaged or deformed, and it is possible to facilitate the replacement of bottom end plates and the inspection of the auxiliary fixture. |
