PURPOSE:To improve bending strength of a tooth root and wear-resistance of a meshing tooth surface by forming a deep carburizing layer where much carbide is generated on a meshing tooth surface of a gear, and forming a shallow carburizing layer where no carbide or a little carbide is generated on a tooth root. CONSTITUTION:Carbide having a volume rate of 5-50% and a carburizing depth of about 0.8-3.0mm is generated within the range of 0-50mum under the surface on a meshing tooth surface 1 of a gear body 3. Further, carbide layer having a volume rate of less than 5% and a thickness of about 1mm or less is formed within the range of 0-50mum under the surface on a tooth root 2. Accordingly, the bending strength of the tooth root and wear-resistance of the meshing tooth surface can be improved to satisfy the reliability and durability.
