PURPOSE:To provide high filtering accuracy and high filtering treatment capacity and to remove a large amount of a precipitate in a limited volume, by containing a composite fiber having a double structure consisting of a core part constituted of a polymer having a relatively high m.p. and an outer peripheral part constituted of a polymer having a relatively low m.p. CONSTITUTION:A filter material 6 is constituted of the first filter layer 7 positioned on the upstream side and the second filter layer 8 positioned on the downstream side. The average diameter of the composite fiber forming the first filter layer 7 is set to 1.0-10 denier and the thickness of the first filter layer 7 is set to 3.0-20mm. In the second filter layer 8, the average diameter of the polymer fiber thereof is set to 0.01-0.1 denier and the thickness thereof is set to 0.3-3mm. In a filter, the greater part of a large amount of the precipitate in plasma is caught and removed by the first filter layer 7 of the filter material 6 and the remaining part thereof is further caught and removed by the second filter layer 8 to remain in a chamber 9 for a liquid to be filtered while the purified plasma passing through the filter material 6 to reach a filtrate chamber 10 is led out from the filter by opening a filtrate lead- out port 13.
