PURPOSE:To improve the error characteristic by using a sample point as a node. CONSTITUTION:Several adjacent points (an-1, an,...) being nodes of eye patterns are used as sample points, the eye pattern is compared with two high/low threshold values (TH1, TH2) and the data before modulation is obtained from the result. That is, the sample point is moved not to a loop of the eye pattern curve but to the node (corresponding to data change point). In using the sample point as the node, distances b1, b2 from the threshold values TH1, TH2 to waveforms C1, C2... of the eye pattern are increased and the error rate characteristic is improved.
