PURPOSE:To detect two-wheeled vehicles such as an automatic two-wheeled vehicle and a bicycle by providing a means which outputs a two-wheeled vehicle detection signal, when a vehicle body detection signal is given before a driver detection signal and the driver detection signal is not given before the vehicle body detection signal. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic transmission and reception part 5 which is provided to receive the reflected wave from a passing object, vehicle body detection signal output means 37 and 40 which output the vehicle body detection signal based on the wave reflected from two-wheeled vehicle body, a driver detection signal output means 39 which outputs the driver detection signal based on the wave reflected from the driver of the two-wheeled vehicle, and a two-wheeled vehicle detection signal output means 41 are provided, and this output means 41 outputs the two-wheeled vehicle detection signal, when the vehicle body detection signal is given before the driver detection signal and the driver detection signals is not given before the vehicle body detection signal. Thus, two- wheeled vehicles such as an automatic two-wheeled vehicle and a bicycle are surely distinguished from persons or the like and are detected, and vehicles are detected with a high precision.
