PURPOSE:To provide a vulcanizing adhesive compound exhibiting the effect of remarkably improving water-resistant adhesion in the bonding between a metal and a nitrile rubber or the like, which comprises a novolak phenolic resin, a particular condensation resin, and a curing agent. CONSTITUTION:A vulcanizing adhesive compound comprising a novolak phenolic resin, a condensation resin prepared by a condensation of an arom. alkyl ether with phenol, and a curing agent, e.g., an amine compd. such as hexamethylenetetramine or a phosphorus compd. such as triphenylphosphine. A metal can be bonded to a rubber by applying this compound to the metal, conducting a baking treatment, bringing an unvulcanized nitrile rubber into contact with the baked metal, and conducting pressure vulcanization at a vulcanization temp. According to this method, sufficient bonding strength can be maintained, e.g., even in hot water. Therefore, this method can be applied to bonding of a metal to rubber parts for various industries, e.g., oil seal, gasket, packing, and valve. Further, this method can be similarly applied to bonding of a metal to an acrylic rubber.
