PURPOSE:To make the title core to be used effectively in a pulse compressor by a method wherein a core where a Co-related amorphous alloy thin material whose magnetostriction is positive and an electrically insulating film have been laminated or wound alternately is installed in order to increase a squareness ratio, to reduce an iron loss and to reduce a rise in temperature of the core. CONSTITUTION:This core is constituted in such a way that a Co-related amorphous alloy thin material whose magnetostriction is positive and an electrically insulating film are laminated or wound alternately. As an alloy for this purpose the alloy which is expressed by the following general formula can be enumerated: (Co1-xFex)100-z (Si1-yBy)z, where 0.05<=x<=0.5, 0.3<=y<=0.9 and 15<=z<=27. The magnetostriction influences a squareness ratio of the alloy; if the magnetostriction is positive, the squareness ratio of the core is increased. This kind of thin material can be prepared easily if a molten-metal quenching method is applied to the alloy of a prescribed composition. As a result, the squareness ratio can be increased; an iron loss can be reduced rise in temperature can be reduced, and when this core is incorporated in a pulse compressor, it is effective.
