PURPOSE:To ease the extent of the moire stripe of a reproduced image by filtering the image signal with a low-pass-filter after a quantizing processing and before a binarization processing. CONSTITUTION:When the analog output of a light detector 10 is once converted to a digital output, after that, a processing to an image signal is executed, it is converted again from the digital output to the analog output, introduced to a binarization comparator 24 and compared with a reference signal and the exposing time of a light source for an exposure to image-record to a carrier 28 for the image recording is controlled by the output signal of the binarization comparator 24, an analog output signal before being introduced to the binarizing comparator 24 is filtered by a low-pass-filter 22. Thus, at the time of the image reading of a stripe pattern near a quantizing pitch, the extent of a moire can be eased and a reproduced image more faithful to an input image can be obtained.
