PURPOSE:To reduce the connection and release time and to relieve the connection processing load by supervising the connection state between allocated terminal equipment and inter-station relay line and presetting a required communication path in a digital exchange in response to the result of supervision. CONSTITUTION:A connection state monitor means 200 monitors a terminal equipment 3 and inter-station relay line 4 for the mutual connection. A preceding connection request means 300 requests the setting of a channel (p) required for the connection of a digital exchange 100 prior to the call setting in response to the result of supervision of the connection state monitor means 200. Thus, without setting a channel (p) in detecting a call, the digital exchange 100 uses the channel (p) set already to execute immediately the required connection and the connection and release tie to the allocated terminalequipment are reduced and the necessity of introducing the communication restriction at congestion is relieved due to the relief of the channel setting load to improve the service performance and operability of the digital exchange.
