Process for regenerating a mass for scavenging mercury containing a solid support or dispersant and copper at least partially in the sulphide state, in which, in a first stage, the said mass, having at least partially lost its effectiveness for scavenging mercury, is at least partially freed from the mercury which it contains, in a second stage the mass originating from the first stage is brought into contact with a sulphiding agent so as to incorporate the said agent at least partially into the said scavenging mass, the said sulphiding agent being an organic polysulphide and, in a third stage, the mass originating from the second stage is subjected to a heat treatment in a nonoxidising atmosphere, under gas purging, at a temperature and for a period which are sufficient to permit the formation of sulphide of the metal(s) present. |
