PURPOSE:To prevent the erosion of a member by forming a carbide diffusion layer onto the surface of a member used in the dry steam region of a steam turbine plant, for example, of a nozzle blade. CONSTITUTION:A diffusion layer 10 is formed through laser padding onto the steam outlet side 3a of a nozzle blade 3, and the diffusion layers 10a and 10b on the belly side and back surface side on the surface at the above-described part are hardened. In concrete, the outlet side surface of the nozzle blade 3 is molten by the laser having a power density of about 10<3>-10<9> W/cm<2>, and the hardened layers 10a and 10b are formed by dispersing TIC, WC, etc., by blasting the TIC or WC powder into the molten part by the inert gas such as helium gas. The such constituted nozzle blade 3 possesses the superior erosion resistance, and the prescribed purposes can be achieved.
