The invention relates to a greatly simplified trap which is intended for capturing small animals and which is of the kind in which animals are captured alive without being harmed in any way. The trap (1) comprises a hollow tubular body (2) which is closed at both ends and which preferably has a rectangular cross-sectional shape. At least one of the end openings is closed by means of an inwardly and obliquely extending flap (5, 6; 11) which is hinged to one side of the tubular body (2), preferably to its upper side, and one edge of which rests against an inner surface of the body (2), preferably under the force of gravity. An animal is able to enter the trap by pushing against the flap, such as to raise the flap or to move it to one side. Subsequent to the animal having passed the flap, the flap will return to its original starting position, thus imprisoning the animal in the trap. |
