An iron-silver battery is made, comprising a case 14 and a cover 15 conaining silver electrodes 10, iron electrodes 11, separators 13 between the electrodes, and electrolyte; where the siliver electrodes 10 are made by mixing a major amount by weight of large Ag particles and a minor amount by weight of small Ag2O particles, pressing the mixture to a current collector having at least a nickel surface, to provide an electrode, and sintering the electrode in a reducing gas to provide a body of sintered, all silver particles containing large particles and small sintered-pore particles, having a 50% to 70% porosity and a large surface area, and capable of discharging at from a C/8 rate up to a C/2 rate. |
