PURPOSE:To allow a transmission side to recognize whether a transmitted data is recorded and outputted or not by a reception side by transmitting a confirmation data representing the data output at the reception side from the reception side to the transmission side. CONSTITUTION:The reception side receives a picture data, stores it in a RAM 3 and applies protocol till the line interruption when the reception is finished to output the picture data stored in the RAM 3 to a recording section 5 and it is printed out. After the receiver looks into a document, the confirmation button provided on the operation section 12 is depressed and a telephone number stored and designated in the RAM 3 is dialed. Then the transmission protocol is applied to generate the confirmation message representing the observance stored in the ROM 2, the received data stored in the RAM 3 and a part of the received data as the picture data and the result is sent. Thus, the operator at the transmission side can confirm the data output at the receiver side.
